Austria is against nuclear power. In 1979 the Austrians decided in a referendum to ban all nuclear energy production on its soil. But, after Fukushima the Austrians also are clear that nuclear energy is not possible for Europe. So Austria decided to work on an anti-nuclear alliance to find a way for Europe in the future working without nuclear energy.
Seven countries have signed up to the anti-nuclear alliance, including Ireland, Portugal and Greece, but Austria is surrounded by countries that disagree.
